Last week, I sent out a Scholastic Book order for the month of December. I will be submitting all orders on December 6th. If you would like to order a surprise gift for your child please let me know and we can make arrangements. According to Scholastic all book orders that are ordered by Dec. 12 should arrive by Dec. 19th. If you would like to order online (scholastic.com/readingclub) you can do so by using our class code: HZWBB
*Winter Book Exchange:
On Thursday I sent out a letter about our Winter Book Exchange. As you know, reading is important and what a better way to encourage and motivate students to read during the break than with a book that was chosen by a friend. We ask that your child brings in a book (less than 5 dollars), wrapped in some fun wrapping paper (such as newspaper, scrap paper, magazine, leaves, etc.). Please bring in the wrapped book by Dec. 16th.
*ASU Benchmark Testing
Students will be taking their Benchmark on December 13th and 14. It is important for students to be on time on those days and that they had a good healthy breakfast.
*Dec. 21st
The last day before Winter Break, will be a busy day. On this day we will be having our Annual Reindeer Run and an Award Ceremony. More details to come.
*Nutrition
This week we started learning about nutrition, as you have probably heard your child talk about the food groups. To connect home and school we highly encourage you to visit: https://www.fueluptoplay60.com/get-involved/parents. This is a great resources to learn how to support your child's health at school and home. This is a free program from the National Dairy Council and the National Football League to encourage children to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. This is a fun program for students to earn points and rewards for their healthy life choices and exercise. You should be receiving a letter about this program this week, but you can get started today. : )
*Winter
With the weather getting colder students are starting to bring jackets, sweaters, or coats. Please make sure the student's name is visible inside the garment, this way if it gets misplaced or there are similar ones we can knows which one belongs to who. If your child brings a hat or scarf to school please have a talk with them about the importance of not sharing these items because of the possible spread of lice.
*ILP's
If you were in our school in previous years you may be used to having ILP's before winter break, but that is not the case this school year. We will not be having ILP's until January. There will be more information as we get closer to the date.
